About The Clean Freak

Why This Site Exists

We built The Clean Freak because the internet's cleaning advice is broken.

Search for "how to clean" almost anything, and you get a 2,000-word blog post from a brand that wants to sell you their product, a magazine article with four paragraphs of personal anecdotes before the actual method, or a video where the instructions start at the three-minute mark.

You do not need a story. You need the answer. Fast, specific, and structured so you can follow it step by step while standing in your kitchen with rubber gloves on.

That is what The Clean Freak does. Every guide follows the same structure: what you need, how to do it with exact quantities and timing, what NOT to do, and when to call a professional. No filler. No product shilling. Just the fix.

How Our Guides Are Built

Every cleaning method on this site is based on established chemistry and published guidelines from authoritative sources. We do not make up cleaning hacks or repeat internet myths (no, white wine does not fix red wine stains).

Our process for each guide:

We research the cleaning science behind the method: what chemical reactions are involved, what products are effective and why, and what common mistakes cause damage. We consult manufacturer guidelines for appliances and surfaces. For safety-critical content (mold removal, chemical interactions), we reference EPA and CDC published guidelines and include clear safety warnings and "call a professional" thresholds.

Every guide includes a "Sources & Methodology" section explaining the science behind the recommended method. Every page shows a "Last reviewed" date so you know the information is current.

What We Are Not

We are not a product review site. We do not accept payment to recommend specific brands. When we mention a product by name, it is because it is genuinely the most effective option for that task, not because anyone paid us to say so.

We are not a substitute for professional cleaning or mold remediation services. Our guides include clear thresholds for when a job is beyond DIY, especially for mold, structural cleaning, and chemical safety situations.
