How to Remove Ink (Ballpoint) from Leather

Difficulty Hard

Removal Method

1

Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball. Dab (do not rub) the ink stain gently.

3 min
2

Wipe with a clean damp cloth. Apply leather conditioner immediately to the area to prevent drying.

5 min
3

If ink remains, apply a non-gel non-acetone nail polish remover on a cotton ball. Dab very gently. Follow immediately with conditioner.

5 min
💡 Alternative Method

Hairspray (the aerosol kind with alcohol) works similarly to rubbing alcohol.

🚫 What NOT to Do
  • Do not rub (spreads ink into the leather grain)
  • Do not use acetone (damages leather finish)
  • Do not skip conditioner after alcohol treatment (alcohol dries leather)
🔄 If Nothing Works
