How to Remove Permanent Marker from Clothes
Removal Method
1
Place the stained area face-down on paper towels. Apply rubbing alcohol to the back of the stain. The alcohol pushes the ink through onto the paper towels.
2
Replace paper towels as they absorb ink. Continue applying alcohol until no more ink transfers.
3
Apply liquid laundry detergent to remaining stain. Let sit 10 minutes. Wash in warm water.
💡 Alternative Method
Hand sanitizer (gel) applied to the stain and blotted works similarly.
🚫 What NOT to Do
- Do not use water first (does not dissolve permanent marker)
- Do not put in dryer until clean
🔄 If Nothing Works
Dry cleaning. Permanent marker may be permanently set in some fabrics.
