How to Remove Nail Polish from Wood Table

Difficulty Hard
Urgency Act fast!
⏱️ Time-Sensitive Stain

This stain sets quickly. Start treatment as soon as possible for the best results. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to remove completely.

Removal Method

1

Blot wet polish immediately with a paper towel.

1 min
2

For finished wood: apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a cloth. Dab very gently. The alcohol dissolves the polish without damaging most polyurethane finishes.

5 min
3

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Apply furniture polish.

2 min
💡 Alternative Method

For dried polish on finished wood: let it cure fully (24 hours), then try to peel it off in one piece. The polyurethane finish underneath sometimes lets it release cleanly.

🚫 What NOT to Do
  • Do NOT use acetone on wood (strips the finish instantly)
  • Do not use nail polish remover on unfinished, waxed, or lacquered wood
🔄 If Nothing Works

Careful sanding and spot refinishing.
